HOMEMADE PET TREATS

The Treats are cut out by hand with cookie cutters, baked in the oven and then dried in a food dehydrator to remove all moisture. There are no preservatives added and they do not need to be refrigerated. The treats are then vacuum-sealed and placed in a reclosable bag. They will keep for up to six months after they have been opened if kept in the reclosable bag in a dark, dry place. Sometimes treats may break due to handling or the pressure of the bag during the vacuum seal process but most dogs don’t seem to mind broken pieces.

Dog Treats are available in four sizes:

Very Small Dogs – under 15 pounds

Small Dogs – 15 to 39 pounds

Medium Dogs – 40 to 59 pounds

Large Dogs – 60 pounds and over

These weights are only a guideline. If your dog has a tendency to swallow treats whole, it is advisable to give them the next larger size so they will bite into the treat. Some dogs actually prefer larger treats.

Cat Treats & Very Small Dog Treats

are the same size.

CUSTOM REQUESTS

Pet treats can be customized for an additional $2.00 charge.

Any of the recipes can be modified to allow for special diets. For example, if your pet is allergic to wheat; I can substitute oatmeal or cornmeal for the flour or breadcrumbs. Water can be substituted for Eggs or Milk but the treats may break easier.

Packages can be made with your pets name and picture on it. Simply email me a .jpg picture with the information. Be sure to include a phone number in case I have any questions.

I will need at least three days notice to customize treats for your pet.

TIPS

Some dogs and Cats can be finicky.  My own cat, Munchkin, will like a certain flavor one day and not like it the next. The following day she may like it again.  On the other hand, my other cat, Tigger, and my dogs, Blackie Bear and Rascal, will eat anything.  Some dogs can also be a little finicky, especially the smaller ones.  One tip for dogs is that if one doesn't like the treat, try offering it to another dog in front of the first one.  More often than not, the first dog will decide that he wants it after all.  Also, some dogs won't take a treat if they are in an uncomfortable situation or if they are nervous or excited.  When training a new dog, I suggest that you use the treats for Very Small Dogs as a reward and then one of the ones that are appropriate for their size when the training session is over.  That way it doesn't interfere with their appetite when it comes to eating their regular dinner.  While I try to make the treats as healthy as possible, they are not intended to replace dog food that has been formulated to provide a balanced diet.
